Keep it flowin

In the words of my friend Matt, let’s keep the pipeline flowin. I’m not entirely certain this isn’t the advice of a raging alcoholic, but I’m willing to learn to keep something constantly fermenting and serving.

Today I bottled 5 gallons of an Austin Homebrew Supplies Anniversary English Brown. I got this mash together about 14 days ago and it’s got a great smell to it.  The FG on it was right around 1.014 which is a smidge off from the expected 1.015, but I am ok with it.  After that I had to try out my new wine yeasts with making two 2.5 gallon batches of Apfelwein using the baseline Ed Wort’s recipe we all love so much.

In the past I have used my own choice of yeast via the Pasteur Champagne Yeast by Red Star, but this time I went traditional with one 2.5gallon batch and used the Montrachet Yeast. In the other I decided to give a Cote des Blancs.  I am very much looking forward to seeing the different finish between the two yeasts.  With the same baseline apple juice I should have a great selection to compare.
