Seasonal Brewing and the Magic that is AHS

So I began my seasonal brewing off with a bang. Austin Homebrew Supply (https://www.austinhomebrew.com/) is starting a new ultra limited edition recipe kits series. I got one of the first round recipes and it did not disappoint. NAY it may be the best beer I have tasted in a while. This magic is the Pumpkin Pie Cream Ale. Not only did I brew this puppy loaded with lactose (1lb) and a can of pumpkin, BUT i ordered the ingredients to make another 5 gallons. It has a lightly pumpkin spiced flavor from the packets they give for most pumpkin beers, add in the large amount of lactose, a cream ale yeast from WhiteLabs and top it with a packet of vanilla extract into the bottling… magic ensued.

If you get an opportunity to brew this puppy DO IT. I may in fact be biased as I am an October Baby and my birthday is celebrated with a pumpkin pie rather than cake… but I am just splitting hairs at this point. Give this one a go and try and manage the boil as well as the water content to be on the sweeter side. Think malty, creamy, pumpkiny ale.

My good friend Melissa who is a liquid transfer Engineer (fancy word for a chem lab weenie) joined me for her first brew session. Boy are we gonna have fun in the future. I could see the cogs rolling in her head as she looked at my starter and said… i can improve that. Time will tell and if she does get involved you can bet your sweet ass she will get some tips into this blog.
