On the road to recovery after my trip and subsequent sickness here I stand with a much needed update.

Mini Tiny Brew Tour in Idaho Falls, ID.
I arrived at the Idaho Brewing and was able to pick up some nice pint glasses as well as managed to slip in at least a tasting of a blonde Ale. I didn’t have a chance to sample a whole ton but it had a nice mellow flavor. I arrived too soon for their opening due to bad timing, but a lady there was able to hook me up with parking lot pint deals. Cheers to a true hellava woman! She then directed me down the street to a small brew pub.
Small batch, no Distribution. Snow Eagle Brewing and Grill. Not a bad place, very fancy names for their beers not very complex. Overall it had the owner skulking around making the whole eating/drinking experience a bit odd. They attempted a west coast feel but fell way short with overly fried food and aggressively bad customer service. Out of their bottle list of ages beers they had 1 available and the draft list wasn’t all that impressive with a Helles Bock that wasn’t too bad but a bit on the lame side. Normally with a Helles Bock you expect a largely strong beer with a mild bittering from the hops what you got was an off kilter pale ale. To top the whole odd experience out I asked if they had any shwag for sale and they brought out from the back a polo shirt which he wouldn’t let me try on and was kinda touchy (literally) when trying to show me it fits to the point that my personal bubble was fried. Of course I am all about wasting money in the pursuit of beer so i got it anyways ($18 polo turned in $30 on receipt… didn’t care, had beer.) Got back to hotel and sure enough it was the worst polo ever cut, shoulders stuck and did not fit well at all. Go figure, ill stick to the beer.

Hop Growing
My little hop continues its growth and survived the trip with others taking care of it. what was 3 vines is now 1, but I wont critize as it was a favor from a friend. /Sigh my poor child. Here is a progress picture and he is healthy and wrapping around my twine that will eventually form its makeshift trellis.

Beer Brewing
I have my 120shilling Wee Heavy Scotched Ale bottle conditioning and I greatly anticipate its arrival into readiness for consumption. In the meantime I was able to try a Berliner Weisse sold by Green Flash Brewery in San Diego. It is a light refreshing summer drink with not a whole lot of heaviness at all. Ranging in the lower 3% ABV it provides the drinker with a little hoppy/sour/tart Wheat beer drink to tide you over during the summer days. Was a common beer in the 19th century around Berlin Germany and can only be labeled as such for German brewed. Of course Green Flash did not call it that. Its variation was closer to a Saison, but I am not splitting hairs.
