Hot Summer Nights and Beer

With my friend still in town I had to show him the brew process. He forced me to do it folks… honest… it was really rough…
I took the whole process fairly slowly so he could see what I was doing and why, in addition he and another coworker were able to sample the components as we went along. If you have never brewed and tasted it through all stages of the process from raw to wort I highly suggest you do.

I used a very simple recipe for a plain hefeweizen.

I stuck to ice last night due to the lack of a hose to run through my condo, however I am promising myself to get to home depot and pick one up. Sadly no inaugural usage of the wort chiller for you all to see.

As you can see the beer was nothing really fancy, bit of fermentables, light bittering and maybe a bit darker coloring than I would have expected from this.
I went with a recommendation from my best friend and brew mentor Matt, Wyeast 3068 Weihenstephan.

I will say this… adjusting the vents after discovering them to be completely closed (still not sure how that happens) equals ZERO black grease on my brew pot from the propane burner! HOORAY! Besides that I have nothing more other than some pictures, Happy brewing everyone!
